Game 6: Dead Thread
Here we go! The Dead Thread is now open!
Please be aware, my ghosties, that because there are some powers that allow one to act from the dead I will NOT be revealing roles here either until the end of the game.

So, E1337ist, ready to join me? Feel free to ask me about game mechanics or anything you're still unsure about.
The only thing I can't reveal are the roles of the people playing for this particular game.

Hello!
Sorry I wasn't able to get on earlier. I had left the area I was in.
I'm trying to come up with questions/comments as I read through the rules and tips.
1. I don't quite understand what a "blue-vote" is after reading the description.
2. I read that dead people can't participate, but can dead people read the game thread?
3. I'm reading through the optional roles on wikipedia because the link from the other thread didn't work. They're exciting!
4. Are our roles randomly assigned or strategically given out?
I guess that's all I really have for now. I've played the game with cards before, so I understand the basics. I think it's just the forum aspect that will take some getting used to.

Can you make alliances? What are the rules on those? What are you allowed to PM other game players about? (Provided I haven't died yet.)

Re: Game 6: Dead Thread
A blue vote is a term used in games in which there is more than one type of vote - for instance a day lynch as well as an "unofficial" vote of who you think is the next most suspicious. There are some games when more than one "official" vote occurs, but I doubt I will ever do a game with that type of mechanic.
Yes, the dead cannot participate in a game since they have been killed, however there are certain games in which the dead may "come back" or something along that line. If that type of game occurs where the dead and living can interact (as is occurring in our current game) then in designing the game the GM must take extra precautions in ensuring nothing is revealed that could ruin the game. That's why I won't reveal roles in the dead thread right now.
Ah, I'm glad to hear they have you excited! I've fixed the link with the common roles in a game, but after that it is a good exercise for you to try and match up some of the roles I have in our current game with some of the ones on the Wiki.
I randomly assign roles. I'm sure some GMs assign some sneakily to suit their own purposes, but I find that trying to plan too far ahead never works.
Yea, the forum changes things up as it forces you be very careful about what you say on the main thread and what you say in private PMs. This is the ultimate test of maintaining all your lies.
Yes! If anything, I would say that making alliances is the redeeming factor of online mafia. Since you're not in person you can say one thing to a certain group of people and another thing on the main topic or to another group of people. You just have to be careful to maintain all your lies with all o the right people. There are no rules to alliances: you can make them with whomever and with how many ever people you want. Their effectiveness depends only on making alliances with the right people and trying to get more information out of them than you give away. And, since they're unofficial you can talk about whatever you want and you're not required to do anything you "promise". Just, play intelligently and balance between giving info to the right people and getting info from the right people.
The only serious rule I have about PMs is that you absolutely CANNOT quote one of my PMs. You can do a rough paraphrase of what I've said, but it cannot be a direct quote - and trust me I have ways of knowing. You can, however, quote anyone else you talk too, but be warned: PMs quoted from other players can easily be faked. One of our better players used that tactic as a Mafioso and tricked another player into believing they had a strong alliance with a confirmed dead townie.

Re: Game 6: Dead Thread
This is totally weird talking to myself right now but I just want to leave a note for people to remind me of once the game has ended, just in case anyone asks whether someone was obviously Mafia: a Mafioso slipped and said something no Townie in their right mind would say 1st Day.
Re: Game 6: Dead Thread
Hello hello my love! Please remember not to reveal your role OR alignment on the dead thread!
We can, of course, still converse about everything else that has happened.

Re: Game 6: Dead Thread
Weird? Perhaps you were just a random bandwagon vote.
Yea, to be honest alliances are only useful so long as the Mafia is too wimpy to infiltrate it well. And in this round, it seems the Mafia was too slow or didn't take this one seriously enough.

Re: Game 6: Dead Thread
I know, I apologize! Everyone is always excited to talk when they get here, but it will have to wait until the end of the game. You can ask a million questions then.
For now, we can talk about anything else - Your opinions on the round, how players are doing, etc.

Re: Game 6: Dead Thread
I know EXACTLY how Julia died.
kimiko is being reclusive which is making Jiro very suspicious of her.
I personally was hoping for more role disputes..
Jiro thinks the absence of role disputes is reason enough to trust the current alliance members. i'm not so sure...

Re: Game 6: Dead Thread
Well, that was someone's power going off. It's not something that usually happens in a Mafia game so I'm sure people will pick up on who's responsible for it.
Re: Game 6: Dead Thread
Hello ma'am! I shall not reveal my role in this thread yet. Though I do have one question:
Was this me?
